Photographing your wardrobe means photographing your bedroom, your mirror, and sometimes yourself. ClosetCue keeps every one of those pictures on your phone. There is nowhere on our server to put them — we never built one.

Why privacy matters more for a closet app than you'd think

A wardrobe catalogue looks harmless, but it adds up to a lot: dozens of photos taken inside your home, your sizes, what you wear and when, and often what you paid. Many closet apps keep all of that on their own servers so they can sync it between devices or run it through a cloud AI service. That can be a fair trade — but it should be one you make knowingly, not one buried in a privacy policy.

ClosetCue makes the other trade. Everything that needs your photos happens on your phone.

How ClosetCue keeps your closet on your phone

• Your photos are saved into the app's private storage on your phone. Other apps can't read them, and they are never uploaded — to us or to anyone else.
• Cutting out the background and reading the colours of each garment are done by your phone itself.
• Choosing outfits is done on your phone too. Every suggestion is scored against the weather, what you're dressing for, which colours go together, and what you've worn lately — all worked out on the device.
• Our server holds your email address, the date your free week started, and what you've bought. It has no place for garments, photos or outfits.
• The weather comes from a forecast service. Your phone asks it directly, with your position rounded and no account or name attached, and we never see the request.
• A or B lets a friend choose between two looks. The picture goes only where you send it, and the votes are counted on your phone and forgotten afterwards.
• No ads, no tracking, and no analytics of our own. The phone’s background-removal tool sends Google basic performance statistics — never your photos. There is nothing to sell, because we never have your closet.

What you give up — honestly

Keeping everything on the phone has costs, and you should know them before you start:

• No automatic cloud sync. To move to a new phone, use My Profile → Save a copy of my closet, which writes everything to one file, then Restore from a file on the new phone.
• We can't recover a lost closet. If a phone is lost or reset without a saved copy, your closet goes with it. We never had it, so we can't give it back.
• You need a connection once, to create your account. After that, your closet opens with no signal at all.

How to check any wardrobe app's privacy

These five checks take ten minutes and work for any closet app, including ours:

1. Read its Data safety section on Google Play (on iPhone, App Privacy in the App Store). If Photos is listed as collected, your pictures leave your phone.
2. Search its privacy policy for “photos”, “images”, “upload” and “AI”, and look for which companies receive them.
3. Try airplane mode. If your closet won't open without a connection, it lives on someone else's server.
4. Look for an export. Can you get your whole closet out as a file you keep?
5. Look for deletion. Can you delete your account from a web page, and does it say what happens to your photos?

Does ClosetCue use AI?

Nothing is sent to an AI service. Cutting out backgrounds uses tools built into your phone, and outfit choices come from ClosetCue's own scoring, which runs on the device.

Why is there an account at all?

So your free week and anything you buy belong to you rather than to one installation. The account holds your email address, your trial date and your purchases — nothing about your wardrobe.

Can I back up to Google Drive?

Yes, if you want to. Save a copy of my closet writes one file, and your phone asks where to put it — Drive, email, a computer, or anywhere else. That copy then lives under that service's terms, and the choice is yours.

What does it cost?

Everything is free for your first week, with no card. After that, outfit suggestions need a plan — monthly, yearly, or bought once and kept. Your closet stays open and exportable either way.
